Grand Hyatt Tokyo to Serve ¥100,000 Wagyu Burger

The Grand Hyatt Tokyo said it will serve a ¥100,000 Wagyu Burger to celebrate the ascent of the new Emperor. The giant beef burgers will be available for a limited time this spring. It is to commemorate the current Emperor’s retirement and ascension of the Crown Prince.

The Oak Door Steakhouse is using the event to celebrate through the 10 day Golden Week Holiday. In the upmarket suburb of Roppongi, the 3kg golden burger of Japanese Wagyu beef goodness will be available from April 1. This is also the same time when the government will announce the name of the new era.

Running for a limited time, the burgers will be on sale until the end of June this year. At roughly a massive 25cm wide and 15cm high, it will be a mammoth feast, recommended for 6 to 8 people. They will come complete with golden dusted buns, a 1kg beef patty, onion, tomato, lettuce and cheddar cheese. It will also come accompanied with a bottle of wine and a huge serve of golden fries.

To get your chance to try one of these humungous hamburgers, you will need to reserve your place at least 3 days in advance. In addition, a cancellation fee of 50% will apply if made less than 3 days before your booking. Please contact the restaurant who will guide you through the online ordering process.

The new Crown Prince Naruhito is due to take the throne from May 1 this year. He will be the 248th monarch in Japan to become Emperor. He will replace his father who will step down from his royal duties on the day before, April 30. The current Emperor, aged 85 years of age, will be the first to step down in over 200 years.
