New Express Route the ‘Mt Fuji Excursion’ from Shinjuku


Next month from the 16th of March a new express train service called the ‘Mt Fuji Excursion’ will start. It will begin as a direct service from Shinjuku to Kawaguchiko stations. The train is mainly in response the large influx of tourists, especially those wanting a direct express service to the famous volcano. It will also offer views of the large landmark along the journey.

The new service is called the ‘Fuji Excursion’. It will connect Shinjuku and Kawaguchiko station on the Fuji Kyuko’s Kawaguchiko Line. It will operate 2 services in the morning, these run from Shinjuku to Fuji. In the afternoon, they will then operate another 2 services for the return journey.

The first service will start from 8:30 am from Shinjuku station, and the following at 9:30 am. The return service from Kawaguchiko station will operate at 15:05 and 17:38. These will run daily, including on weekends. The E353 series trains which will run this route have a max speed of 130 km/h. The total journey will take 1 hour 52 minutes.

The service will also provide scenic views of Mt Fuji, and stop off at the popular Fuji Q Highland theme park. For more information check out our how to buy page.
